Warning

Launchmetrics is not a hardware expert or supplied, nor an RFID one. Therefore please refer to your RFID partner for device compatibility or hardware purchase and support.

The hardware listed below are the only models supported by Launchmetrics on which we can offer support and troubleshooting.

RFID can be a complex and technical subject, we discourage starting an RFID project without an adequate RFID partner.

RFID Printer

Zebra ZD621R
SKU: ZD6A143-30ELR2EZ

The ZD621 is a small and compact printer capable of printing and reading RFID labels. It can be connected via Bluetooth or USB.

RFID tags

RFID tags are regular labels equipped with RFID chips.

There are two main types of RFID tags: HF tags and UHF tags, however, at Launchmetrics we only support UHF tags:

  • High Frequency (HF) tags:
    • They cannot be read from far away. You need to be 10 cm away at the most.
    • Better for other types of use cases.

  • Ultra High Frequency (UHF) tags:
    • Best for long-distance reading and can be read from up to 3 meters away.
    • These are the only RFID tags we support.

RFID Tags come in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Tag sizes also affect scanning ranges ex. smaller tags require shorter scanning distances.

Important

An iOS device with the Samples app is required to operate the scanner.

We recommend getting the model that has 1d/2d imager. This gives you the option to use traditional barcodes as a backup option or as a way to transition from barcode to RFID.
